The Untamed: Game of Hearts

Chapter 232: Initiated

After all was said and done, Boris found himself looking at Aspen. With a nod, he telepathically communicated with him, [I’ll follow you shortly.]

[Alright, but don’t take long...] Aspen mentally replied before leaving the room with the rest of their companions.

Watching them leave, Boris turned his gaze as he finally met Lyne’s eyes. Try as he might, however, he was unable to utter any words. He didn’t know what to say. All he knew was that Lyne was about to return to the Moon Clan Territory, and he didn’t know when they could ever meet again. And while he clearly understood their current situation, his heart still broke knowing that he wouldn’t be able to see her whenever he wanted. He hadn’t even marked her yet, and here he was feeling like he was about to go insane just by being near his mate!

Boris let out a pensive sigh. Drawing comparisons, he wondered how King Nathan would react once he found out that Raine was gone. Their bond was too strong already, and any sort of separation between them would probably hurt more than they’d even expect. Just thinking about it, Boris shook his head. He knew he had to face his inner fears about separation at some point. He shouldn’t waste time comparing or justifying what he was currently feeling with what the others might be experiencing.

"What is it, Boris?" Lyne asked with a frown. Just from how he was looking at her, she could tell that Boris had something to say.

Boris, however, still not being able to fathom what to say at that point, ended up pulling Lyne into a tight embrace. The latter was startled at the sudden action. A part of her wanted to push back, but she found herself not even struggling. With great hesitation, she cautiously moved her arms to accommodate him, hugging him back as she fought through her prejudice.

"I’m sorry. I’m at a loss for words," Boris murmured, his tone downcast as he spoke. "It’s just... I don’t know how to express what I’m feeling right now." He just didn’t want to take the chance. It felt as if he might mess things up if he said what he wanted to say without thinking about it hard enough.

Hearing his explanation, Lyne unconsciously smiled, her face burying itself in his chest. "If we’re meant to be, then I guess we’ll have to meet again one way or another," she murmured, making Boris hug her more tightly. "Ah- You might break my bones."

At Lyne’s joking tone, Boris loosened his hold, but he still didn’t let her go as he relished the feeling of their closeness. In truth, he wanted to do more than just hug her, but he was honestly surprising himself with how much self-control he was exerting at the moment. It was frustrating, but he had to remind himself that he still needed to adjust and consider Lyne’s apprehensive disposition with his acts of intimacy.
