Chapter 214: He Was Afraid
The next morning, Shawn was still impassive in front of everyone but Ryu noticed the dark circles under his brother’s eyes and when he gave a closer look to him, his eyes looked red and sore.
’Did he cry?’ he mused.
"Why are you so quiet?" asked Ryu, unable to suppress his concern for him, his voice was full of warmth as he approached him. They were preparing breakfast. He was cooking while Shawn was helping him with cutting the ingredients he needed.
Shawn was not used to such gentle and caring words from people. He felt a little bit awkward with how Ryu and Dean was treating him inside the house. Though he wanted to show them the same warmth and treat them the same way, but there’s no way that he would do that knowing the kind of danger his doing so would implicate on everyone around him afterwards.
"I’ve got nothing to say. Don’t you know the saying ’Less Talk, Less Mistake’." Shawn answered simply.
"Big Bro Shawn, that’s so lame, we want to hear your thoughts about the whole story we told yesterday too you know. What are your thoughts about everything? Do you think we’ll win the challenge that we completed yesterday?" Dean interrupted as he handed the meat he chopped to Ryu.
"Yes we will sure win it guys... this story is an amazing one and none of the other teams had such good stories to begin with." Bernard who was just watching his teammates, commented.
"But, even I’m curious about your views on the story Shawn? All of our housemates discussed their opinions about the story and its impact on the Kens except for you. Or are you busy formulating plans cause you know this can be a good opportunity to smack the butts of the Kens in business. I mean, this thing could be an advantage for SL Group because I’m sure at some point, it can be twisted to your benefit and bring about a huge effect in the Ken’s business somehow." Bernard continued as he looked suspiciously at Shawn.
Shawn sighed, it was long and deep, he shook his head and with narrowed eyes he looked at Bernard, "Don’t get too curious nor don’t get too close with me, because I bite, I can be pretty dangerous sometimes. So all of you stop asking already. I don’t like topics like that and I hate giving opinions when I don’t want to. So let me stay quiet and mind my own business and you stop looking for my opinion on everything."
"Okay flower boy, let’s stop and leave him alone. He does not want to gossip around like us. By the way, as early as now, I’m telling you... No one could bring our family down. Honest people like us who fight in the business world fairly can’t be pulled down that easily so stop bringing fire with your teammates. Come here and let me seal that mouth of yours... Instead of learning and helping out in cooking, you are spurting nonsensical things here." Dean said jokingly as he pulled Bernard towards the dining table to sit.
Ryu stared at Shawn and tried to read him.
