Chapter 323: Battle of life & death (3)



While Scarecrow overpowered Evanna, grappling with the princess, the Faceless surrounding the Demon King gradually reduced. Many were dead on the ground, and others turned in the opposite direction, fleeing from him and some of his men. Their numbers were still great, but this gave Conrad the opportunity to survey the battleground.

As he did, Conrad’s gaze landed on Prince Arawn in his icy tower. It was clear Evanna created defensive vines whilst the Flori Prince fought with those chilling powers. But where was Evanna?

’Why don’t you say hello to an old friend...’ The voice in his head almost slithered in his ear.

Conrad didn’t deny this allure to confront Arawn. A part of him knew it was pointless. They’d come to his aid, and Evanna was now married. But that part of him that clung to the darkest part of his mind spoke louder than any common sense. Like a puppet on a string, the Demon King ventured towards Arawn, slicing down anything in his way.

That was until Arawn’s right-hand man stepped into his line of sight. Even with the distance between them, Garrett was just as imposing as Conrad, with his seraph blade by his side, large body standing tall, and glaring at the Demon King. Conrad smirked at the elf’s interest, swinging his sword as the warriors approached each other.

"You are pathetic," Garrett’s voice was low, and the wind almost blew his words away in an uproar. But Conrad could hear him even if he whispered it.

"And why is that?" Conrad grinned, finding the situation amusing. "I am here like you, getting rid of these creatures."

Garrett stared at Conrad, not responding until he stopped before the Demon King. "You cannot have her," he replied. "Move on."

Conrad tilted his head to the side, trying to ignore the voice in his head. Garrett was right. Yet that didn’t stop his hand from twitching and-
