Chapter 264: On Duty
Evanna wanted to rush into action and ensure the gem would be theirs. But there was nothing they could do right now. She was enraged that a deal was struck, and Conrad beat them to the palace.
"Come on," Arawn whispered, gently kissing her head and steering her towards the door. Garrett followed swiftly behind them, acting as their guard until they arrived at Evanna’s bed chambers.
He remained outside as Arawn and Evanna entered, only to be pulled to the side by someone hidden in the shadows. His dagger was out instantly. The moment he saw the petite opponent, he paused his reflex, and the dagger kissed her skin.
"*Where have you been?*" Garrett asked, his eyes trailing down Fiza’s body. She was in her usual attire, but much like how Garrett kept a hidden dagger, Fiza kept a few weapons on her person. The elf kept his blade against her throat, uncaring of the pose they were in.
Fiza didn’t mind being pushed up against the wall or the dagger at her throat. It was more entertaining. "*Here and there,*" she whispered, her hand caressing his sharp cheekbones.
Garrett flinched at her touch but did not pull away. It was a wonder she could reach so high, but he was leaning over her. "*Evanna needs you,*" he replied, fully aware of what had happened. He’d remained outside with Arawn as Conrad and Evanna spoke.
Fiza grinned at that. "*For now... She needs him. And I... Need you.*" She pushed onto her tiptoes, hands sliding up his muscular chest beneath the loose-fitting material. Garrett pulled his dagger back but moved away from the fae.
"*I’m on duty. I won’t leave my post,*" Garrett replied, resolute in his actions.
Fiza covered her mouth with her hand, holding back a giggle as she skipped around the large man who stood against the wall beside Evanna’s chambers. The petite fae leaned against his body, hand lowering to his groin. "*Then don’t leave,*" she whispered seductively, stroking him teasingly.
