Matchmaker Mayhem

Chapter 60: Mei’s Another Secret Scheme

Ava should’ve known something was up the moment she saw Mei’s unusually innocent expression over breakfast. It was the kind of look that suggested mischief, hidden under a thin veneer of sincerity. Mei had been uncharacteristically quiet ever since Ethan’s matchmaking profile stunt, which should have been a red flag in itself. Quiet Mei was plotting Mei.

So when Mei waltzed into the dining area of their suite, wearing a brightly patterned scarf and holding a clipboard with a suspicious number of colorful notes stuck to it, Ava immediately narrowed her eyes.

"Oh no," Ava said, putting her coffee down. "What is that?"

Mei smiled sweetly. "Good morning to you too, dear."

Ryan, sitting across from Ava and munching on a bagel, raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess. Whatever’s on that clipboard is going to make us miserable."

"Nonsense!" Mei chirped. "It’s going to be fun. Team-building fun."

Harold strolled in, sipping his tea and looking far too amused. Ava sighed. Harold’s amusement was never a good sign.

"What kind of ’team-building fun,’ Grandma?" Ava asked warily, already bracing herself.

Mei clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "A scavenger hunt!"

Ryan snorted. "A scavenger hunt? At a matchmaking convention?"

"It’s brilliant," Mei said, unfazed by his skepticism. "A bonding exercise to help everyone work together while embracing a little chaos. You two will thank me later."
