Chapter 92: For Him
Silas had been watching Ivy the whole time. Her ears were pink from embarrassment, and the sight made his heart skip a beat.
She looked so soft, so beautiful, especially with her pink hair tied into a messy bun. A few strands had fallen loose and rested gently on her glowing skin, which had a thin layer of sweat from the summer heat.
Holding the lunchbox in her hands, her eyes filled with worry, and her ears still slightly red, she looked like a fresh peach.
Sweet. Juicy. He suddenly wanted to hug her, or maybe even take a bite of her. His mind flashed back to when she hugged him a week ago in the car. The memory made his chest feel warm.
Without thinking, Silas leaned toward her as if dizzy. "Ugh..." he let out a soft sound and stumbled a little.
Ivy immediately reached out to catch him, worried. Henry’s words came back to her: he hasn’t eaten or slept well in six days. Maybe Silas was seriously weak?
"Silas!" she cried, grabbing his arm and letting him lean on her shoulder. His body was warm and heavy, and for a second, she felt a little shy. But she quickly shook off the feeling.
"Ivy," Silas said softly, his voice brushing against her ear, "Can you take me back to my apartment? I... I don’t think I can walk far right now."
"Of course," she said without thinking, holding him tighter. She helped him toward the parking area where military vehicles were waiting.
Behind one of the pillars nearby, Henry was peeking with only one eye showing. He watched the scene play out and sighed deeply.
"Tsk, tsk, Captain is indeed formidable. He... seriously knows how to make someone’s heart ache," he whispered to himself.
Then he looked at the salt packets he had just gotten and added in a grumble, "If it wasn’t for these salt packets, I would’ve exposed him right away."
