Chapter 97
The morning sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the room. Birds chirped merrily outside, their cheerful songs a stark contrast to the peaceful slumber of the two figures tangled beneath the sheets.
Suzy stirred, her eyelids fluttering open. "Doris," she mumbled, her voice groggy with sleep. "Close the window. These annoying birds won’t let me sleep."
There was no response. Suzy frowned, her sleepiness fading. She called again, "Doris!" her voice a little louder this time. Still, no answer.
With a groan, she opened her eyes fully, her gaze sweeping across the unfamiliar room. She remembered where she was – she wasn’t in her room but in Ryan’s room. She had to sleep two nights here as her punishment.
She shifted, her head rising and falling against something slightly hard and warm. She looked up and saw Ryan, shirtless,his muscles defined and toned, his chest rising and falling with each breath. He looked so peaceful, so vulnerable.
A gasp escaped her lips as she realized their close proximity. She was lying on top of him, her body pressed against his. She scrambled to get up, her movements clumsy and awkward.
She sat up, her heart pounding in her chest. As she did so, her head bobbed up and down, the weight of something heavy resting on her.
She looked around the room, taking in the scattered pillows that had once formed a barricade. It was clear that they had spent the night together, curled up in each other’s arms.
"Ahhhhh!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with embarrassment.
The scream escaped her lips, the sudden realization of their closeness sending a jolt of adrenaline through her. She scrambled to move away from him, her movements frantic.
Ryan stirred, his eyes fluttering open. He looked at her, a mixture of confusion and amusement on his face. "What’s wrong?" he asked, his voice groggy.
