Orc Hero Story: Discovery Chronicles

Chapter 79.1

Orc Hero Story

The magic “Newt” transforms the user into the desired form. Originally, it didn’t make much sense for stronger creatures, like dragons, to use it. However, when humans used it, they could transform into a formidable being capable of laying waste to anything in its path.

Caspar had transformed into a fantasy creature, resembling a dragon from afar but a completely unknown monster. Undoubtedly, this form was not that of the original creature from which the Human Scriptures originated. It was a fictional being depicted in a book that Caspar had read in the Royal Library. How and why it was illustrated remained a mystery. Perhaps it was the work of a dreamer of the time, the son of a noble with artistic talents, or maybe an abstraction of past disasters. In any case, the image had left a strong impression on Caspar. He chose this form because when he saw that creature, he felt intense fear.

However, the “Newt” magic had several weaknesses. One of them was that the magic could influence the mental state of the transformed creature.

Currently, Caspar was consumed by an inexplicable impulse for destruction.

Experiencing such a strong desire for destruction was unexpected. He didn’t feel this way when he had transformed into a dragon.

Caspar made an effort to calm his mind and assess the situation. He was in a human city, a place for which his companions had fought and risked their lives against the orcs. He couldn’t allow his destructive impulse to overwhelm him.

On the other hand, Caspar’s role was that of a distraction. He had to help Poplatica and his companions escape. That was the purpose of his transformation. So, Caspar targeted the soldiers surrounding him.

Thanks to this form, the attacks from humans barely affected him. Thunder Sonia and the others, who had been a nuisance, had disappeared without a trace. Bash, who had cut off one of his fingers and then The Sage made him crash into debris in retaliation, had fallen silent. Caspar couldn’t believe that the hero who had defeated a dragon would die from such a wound. That man, the dragon slayer, was not a creature weak enough to be defeated by something like that. Surely, he would rise again soon.
