Chapter 1399 - 1398: Making The Most Of It (8)
It was incredible how swatting these pesky Faeries out of the sky didn’t really get me that bored when compared to before; maybe it was the fact that they were being satisfyingly crunched against my ice paddles, or maybe it was the sheer amount of gore that was surrounding me, but either way it was just... mwah~!
Chef’s kiss all the way around and the deepest compliments to these little things since they seemed to be immensely strong in terms of their magical capabilities but otherwise weak to anything physical, making them the perfect punching bags to release stress.
Their magic couldn’t really reach me since I was constantly and randomly pulsing out my own magic to counter theirs, meaning all they had left was to fly straight at me and hope to slip past the giant ice walls or my ice paddles.
In other words I was playing ping pong with fleshy balls that never returned to me, also known as some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time, especially since I was able to reallocate my mental resources to something else as I did so.
What might be more important than batting around these Faeries and watching them explode into brilliant multicolored mist, you might ask?
Why, learning how to use their magic in the midst of me turning them into that glittery rainbow splashes against the brilliant snow that was settled all around us~!
It was becoming rather obvious that their magic reacted to their emotions and required nothing more than their will to shape - much like my Lust Mana that was seldom utilized - while also being something that was tied to the land around them.
A mixture of their emotions and what the world itself was willing to provide them with, something that fluctuated randomly without much warning; I noticed their waning power in the midst of my bloodbath and could immediately piece together why they were growing weaker.
The world noticed that they were dying quickly and without achieving much at all, so it just... slowly began to sever the connection between itself and them, so as to save this resource for something or someone more worthy.
Becoming that someone seemed like a good first start, so after I funneled a surplus of mana into both my paddles and the walls around me I dragged all of my mana back inside of myself and focused on feeling the magic around me.
Not what was being targeted at me, nor what I had pushed out into the world, but what was already here; the magic that was lazily emitted into the air in abundance, the magic that was untouched and untamed, waiting for someone to grab at it.
Typically you grabbed it and pulled it into your Core to become your own mana, but what the Faeries were doing was pulling it towards themselves and then shaping it externally, meaning this was a version of magic that didn’t necessarily require a large Core.
