Chapter 606 - 605 – Mystery Trial – Part 4.
"…What?" – said confused Sengen.
"You have won, you have passed the trial." – said the Book Maker as they snapped their fingers, causing the entire map, all of the suspects and objects to start turning into the pages, making them fly around as the map was getting destroyed… Before then getting completely removed and causing the space to return to its originally state.
"You have passed the trial. Congratulation Sengen."
"You have proven to be worthy of the divinity. You had proven your mind and intelligence."
"Therefore, you deserve it." – said the book maker as she clapped her hands, causing the middle of the room to open up as the pages began flying away from it, making a hole appear while in the next moment an altar wearing a witch hat had emerged from the ground.
[You have completed a Trial Of Gion – The Goodness Of Library And Magecraft]
"…"
"THE FUCK IS THIS!" – shouted Sengen as she couldn't hold it any longer.
"?"
"What is wrong?" – asked Book Maker as they turned around.
"What is wrong? WHAT IS FUCKING WRONG?!" – shouted Sengen.
"The first test and the second test you had given me were hellish hard!"
"But this?"
"THIS WASN'T MYSTERY AT ALL!"
"I JUST FUCKING CAN'T!"
"What the fuck was that child level difficulty level?!"
"Even a fucking retard would be able to easily solve the entire thing!"
"…"
"The trials are random." – said the Book Maker.
"There are several scenarios that can be picked from and they are always random."
"You just happened to get a scenario that was just that easy.:"
"BULLSHIT!" – shouted Sengen.
"Even if it was meant to be an easy difficulty, it still shouldn't had been THAT easy!"
"I'm not buying it!"
"…"
"Well, you want an answer? Then I will give it to you straight." – said the Book Maker.
"Then here."
"You are pathetic."
"I gave you two chances already, yet you failed twice."
"I've thought that you may take this situation seriously considering the current danger outside."
"But no."
"You are still messing up."
"I gave a chance… But you know what? Fuck it."
"I'm just giving up."
"I don't know how much your people can hold out outside! Maybe day? Two? I don't know!"
"I just don't know how long we can wait."
"…"
"And so, I've decided to cheat."
"I've rigged the whole trial's test."
"I'm not taking any risk."
"I'm not doing it FOR YOU! I'm doing it for my god."
"She would rather have her divinity destroyed then let the invaders take it."
"…"
"So is that it?" – asked pissed off Sengen as she clenched her fists.
"I've wanted to do this trial fair and square… And you are just doing something like THAT to me?"
"Hey." – replied the Book Maker calmly.
"Just take the divinity and get out of here before they barge in."
"…"
(Is that fucking it?) – thought Sengen.
(The reward is just here… For the taking?)
(A reward that I can use to become possible one of the strongest players in the game once again?)
(All I have to do is to just… Approach them and claim the reward?)
(With it, I could have "fun" once again.)
(…But…)
(This is fucking pissing me off.) – thought Sengen who wasn't just pissed off, she was straight up fuming with rage.
(I get that these bastards paid off my dept and are even willing to provide me with legendary armor and other broken shit!)
(But THEY ARE NOT FREE!)
(They want to have my loyalty!)
(A deep loyalty that wouldn't be easily broken!)
(That was their part of the deal!)
(It was a deal!)
(But now?)
(I'm straight up giving a power that can make me one of the strongest rankers in the entire game once again?)
(FOR FUCKING FREE?! WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED?!)
(I KNOW WHAT THESE DIVINITIES ARE! THEY EXPLAINED IN DETAILS EVERYTHING!)
(The trial! The priest guarding the temple! And the divinity itself!)
(I was supposed to EARN it with my own effort!)
(…True. There were moments when I've gotten lucky in games, where I would obtain something extremely rare without putting in any real effort or do special preparations.)
(This is common in the games.)
(Luck.)
(So maybe I just had gotten lucky this time?)
(…But…)
"Well, you want an answer? Then I will give it to you straight."
"Then here."
"You are pathetic."
(He fucking just given up on me?! HE FUCKING JUST CHOSE TO GIVE UP ME?!)
(Does he think I wouldn't be able to complete that trial?)
(I get that we are short on the fucking time… But he humiliated with something like THIS?!)
(A motherfucking baby level difficulty level?!)
(I know we don't have time to take on the trials over and over again! We all know how dangerous the situation right now is!)
(But this?)
(THIS IS STRAIGHT UP HUMILIATING!)
(It would be just out right better if he just gave me the reward instead of giving me that baby-)
"…"
(Wait… Why did he….)
The gears inside of Sengen's head started moving.
She started connecting words, sentences, situations, making them combine and move each other…
At first it looked like it was nothing more than desperate move… However, as Sengen put in more and more "gears"… She started seeing something.
A picture of reality.
But it wasn't forming properly.
There was still a massive hole inside that did not gave her a proper answer.
She was stuck.
However, all she had to do was to do it.
(Was it real?) – thought Sengen.
"Are you going to just stand there?" – asked the Book Maker.
"…"
"Ha…."
"Hahahahah…."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" – Sengen suddenly burst out a mad laugh, which caught the Book Maker completely off guard.
"You motherfucker!" – said Sengen.
"You piece of shit motherfucker!"
"…."
"Ha…"
"This is still a trial, isn't it?"
"I forfeit the trial."
"You can show yourself now."
"Book Maker."
"…"
The Book Maker body began turning into the pages, before the whole room also began turning into the pages that began flying around…. And then revealing a truth.
The original room, just like it was at the very start… However, without the altar being present.
"How did you knew?" – asked the Book Maker who was right behind Sengen.
"Because you lied." – said Sengen as she turned around.
"Those words were spoken by you."
"This whole temple and all other temples that holds the divinities of the elder gods? They all had the rules that they needed to go with."
"These tests are about finding the worthy successors."
"That is the main goal of this whole place!"
"You also said these things."
"I'm not doing it FOR YOU! I'm doing it for my god."
"She would rather have her divinity destroyed then let the invaders take it."
"You are doing it for your god and if you were her, you would destroy the divinity."
"AND THAT IS WHAT GAVE YOU AWAY!"
"You exposed yourself at that very moment!"
"Protect the temple and the divinity!"
"If you really thought that I wasn't worth it, you would had just destroyed the divinity out right after this test."
"However, you are doing a will of your god. Finding the successor."
"Meaning the whole act may be the betrayal of your own god."
"Honestly speaking right now? This fucking entire theory of mine sounds like big fucking stretch right now!"
"But I've looked into the other trials that people that I know had!"
"But that wasn't enough… No, no, no."
"I've just added things that somewhat connected to each other, but they DID NOT gave me the answer that I wanted."
"However, I've asked myself this."
"What if the entire thing, from the start to the whole reward part was still trial? Was it all REAL or still FAKE created by the trial?"
"So I've fucking connected everything to this simple question."
"And I've gotten my answer."
"The test this time was about loosing in order to win."
"…"
"Ha…"
"Hahahahah!"
"WOW!" – shouted The Book Maker with cheerful tone.
"You little bastard!"
"Your explanation somewhat sucks and what not! But there can exists many different explanation and answer for a single question!"
"And your explanation may had been different than the one I've had in mind."
"But still."
"You reached the real truth with it."
"That is correct."
"The test this time you had been given was about giving up."
"But with reason."
"It is true."
"We cannot cheat the system."
"We cannot either even destroy the divinities stored within."
"At best when it comes to help, we can just give the challengers the info about trial and nothing else."
"Honestly speaking, your logic is… Flawed."
"There is no denying that."
"However, the question that you asked yourself, if the trial was real or was still fake, was indeed the best possible question you could had asked yourself."
"This time, I was the true culprit here."
"And congratulation."
"This time you have passed the trial of the divinity for real."
[You have completed a Trial Of Gion – The Goodness Of Library And Magecraft]
[For real this time.]
"And now, it is the time to receive your true gift."
