Chapter 305 - 303: The Strategy Runs Deep [3 Updates]
She didn’t want to go over, didn’t want to face Liam Spencer. She wanted to see Lillian Morris, but didn’t have the courage to defy Liam, so the atmosphere was at a stalemate.
Liam looked at the girl’s indifferent figure, frowned deeply, and issued orders again: "Maya Spencer, don’t make me repeat myself a third time. Otherwise, I’ll show you a live broadcast of Lillian jumping off a building."
Faced with the man’s blatant threat, Maya was scared. She was afraid that Liam would throw Lillian off the roof.
So she bit her lower lip, held back her tears, turned around, and stepped towards him slowly.
When she stopped in front of Liam, he nonchalantly sat back on the sofa and said coldly, "Weren’t you about to have breakfast? Order me some morning tea."
Listening to the man’s orders, the tears Maya had just managed to hold back began to fall like rain again, and she didn’t dare to cry out loud in front of Liam.
Thus, she held her breath, picked up her phone, unlocked the screen, and started ordering breakfast for Liam.
She even couldn’t comprehend how Liam could be so indifferent. That man was, after all, his sister’s husband, his brother-in-law. How could he be so indifferent about the life and death of his own family?
While she was ordering breakfast, her tears fell "splat" on the phone screen.
Next to her, Liam, hearing the sound of her tears, was extremely irritated, so he suddenly extended his right hand, pinched her small face, and said, "Maya, stop those tears, they’re disgusting."
Hearing the man’s unreasonable demand, Maya wished she could smash into him and perish together, to see who else he could harm. However, she knew in her heart that before she could crush him, he would have already dealt with her, so she had no choice but to forcefully hold back her tears and not anger him.
The man, seeing her tears being held back, then mercilessly pushed her away, switched to another channel, and continued watching TV.
After a moment, breakfast was delivered. Maya lowered her head, held back her tears, opened the door, took the breakfast, placed it on the dining table, suppressed her emotions as much as possible, and pretended to say calmly, "Sir, breakfast is ready to be eaten."
Liam listened to the girl’s voice, got up from the sofa unhurriedly, and sauntered over to the dining table.
Maya, seeing this, quickly pulled out a chair for him, set up the bowls and chopsticks, then turned to leave. The news just now had made her lose her appetite.
The man looked at Maya’s retreating figure and asked indifferently, "Aren’t you having breakfast?"
Maya choked up a bit and said, "I’m not hungry."
Liam commanded, "Sit."
Maya didn’t dare not to sit; even in a bad mood, she turned around and sat back at the table, to his left.
The man looked at the seated girl, glanced at her, set up her bowl, and gave her a piece of date cake and water chestnut cake, saying, "Try it."
He knew perfectly well that Maya was upset, that she was worried about Lillian, that she couldn’t eat. Yet he deliberately kept her, served her breakfast, making her even more upset.
Maya looked at the pastries placed in her plate by the man, swallowed her saliva, gently picked up the chopsticks, and took a piece, placing it near her mouth, taking a bite.
These pastries she usually loved, she could eat a lot alone, but in today’s situation, no matter how delicious, they were tasteless.
As Maya was chewing the pastries, her tears fell ’pitter-patter’ uncontrollably. Just as she finished the pastries on her plate, Liam added a few more pieces, and even served her a bowl of porridge.
Looking at the food in front of her, thinking of Lillian still in dire straits, she cried more heartbreakingly, tears falling into the porridge, which she drank together.
Finally, her emotions broke down, she put down the chopsticks in her hand, and began to cry loudly.
Liam was too good at tormenting people, she couldn’t bear his torment, she’d rather be choked to death by him than endure the suffering.
The man looked at the loudly crying Maya, "smack" dropped his chopsticks on the table and shouted angrily, "Can’t I eat in peace?"
Hearing his question, Maya stammered in explanation: "I...feel...unwell, can’t you eat...alone?"
Listening to the girl’s request, Liam extended his long arm, pulled her chair in front of him, and pinched her chin, asking, "Maya, do you like him that much?"
She said she felt unwell, did she know how he felt watching her cry bitterly for another man?
Maya heard Liam’s angry question, quickly shook her head in denial, and said, "It is you who have made things so serious, you who have caused me to feel significant guilt towards him, made me feel sorry for him, this has nothing to do with liking him. If you weren’t so aggressive, I wouldn’t cry for him."
Faced with Maya’s accusation, Liam couldn’t respond, finding what she said to be quite true.
For a moment, he seemed to realize it was his own actions that intensified Maya’s emotions.
Maya, seeing him silent, continued her attack, saying: "If you hadn’t found those bookmarks, if you hadn’t bullied people like this, we wouldn’t be hurting each other."
Listening to her accusations again, Liam choked up a bit, and if his memory was correct, before he found the bookmarks, Maya also wanted to protect him and cried for him, as their relationship was gradually improving, but it deteriorated because of a few broken bookmarks.
But it wasn’t about the bookmarks; it was about her heart.
Seeing the man silent, Maya pressed on, continuing to sway him, saying: "Liam, can’t we stop this? The more you force Lillian, the more guilty I feel, you don’t want your self-esteem hurt, don’t want to see me cry for him. If he were fine like before, I naturally wouldn’t have this guilt."
"Liam, help him, won’t you? Give back what you took from him. I promise never to mention him or see him again, alright?"
The man listened to Maya’s request, suddenly laughed coldly, his large hand suddenly grasping her neck, saying: "Maya, quite the scheme, trying to brainwash me into helping Lillian, do you take me for a fool?"
Maya, hearing the man’s analysis, quickly shook her head, cautiously explained: "I’m not, I’m not scheming against you, I’m just stating the facts, we should return his life to him, then live our own lives, okay?"
"Our life? Maya, aren’t you a bit presumptuous? Do you think my life can’t do without you?" the man coldly mocked.
"I know, I get it, you keep me by your side to make me lonely. I promise I’ll just stay quietly by your side, live this life alone. If you despise me, don’t want to see me, you don’t even need to watch me personally, just install a monitor in the living room, I promise I won’t even step out of the apartment door," Maya vowed, for Liam’s peace of mind.
