Chapter 265 - 263: A Guilty Conscience [Part 3]
Liam looked at the girl’s reaction, a strange and seductive smile playing on his lips.
At that moment, Maya Spencer was completely lost, her mind a blank, temporarily forgetting everything.
The next morning, when Maya woke up and opened her eyes, she saw a handsome face beside her. Instantly, her brows furrowed as memories of last night’s intimacies flooded back.
Thinking about her own downfall last night, her face was full of disgust; she was disgusted with herself.
Then, she quietly turned her back to Liam, took a deep breath, and the memories became clearer.
Last night, her bride’s identity was replaced by someone else, and overnight, she lost even her last chance for revenge.
Thinking of this, Maya’s face suddenly turned grave. She thought, does she have to be in Grace’s shadow all her life? To be manipulated by Liam for a lifetime?
She was unwilling, unwilling to lose so miserably, unwilling to be continuously dominated by Liam.
Even though she had so much unwillingness, she was helpless.
Right now, what chips did she have to gamble against him? She couldn’t beat him in the business world, and in matters of love, he was even more of a rogue, giving her no chance to fight back.
At this moment, Maya felt depressed again, the air around her was oppressive.
Ever since learning of Grace’s existence, every time she saw Liam, she felt very oppressive, making her want to escape involuntarily.
She felt the man’s breath behind her, lightly lifted the quilt, quietly got out of bed, and chose a set of women’s clothes from the wardrobe to go to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, Maya looked at the set of women’s clothes, her smile was full of helplessness.
She didn’t expect she would fall to the point of wearing other women’s clothes. Maya rolled her eyes at herself in the mirror, her mood was terribly bad.
She didn’t want to wear other women’s clothes, but she couldn’t leave in her wedding dress; others would definitely think she’s crazy, and Kinsley’s explanation last night would have been in vain.
Maya thought this suite was Liam’s usual place for flings, which was why there would be women’s clothes here. She was overthinking. Whether it was an apartment or a fixed suite, Liam never brought any other woman; whatever female supplies she saw were prepared solely for her. Besides her, there was no one else.
A moment later, when Maya came out of the bathroom, Liam was still asleep in bed, perhaps because he was too tireless last night, causing him to wake up later than Maya.
As Maya walked from the bathroom to the living room, she stole a glance at Liam in the bed. Seeing him sleeping soundly, she tiptoed to the living room, fearing to wake him.
When she reached the door, Maya’s small hand gently turned the lock, but after twisting it a few times, it still couldn’t open. She tried several passwords with no success.
Just as her patience was running thin, a big hand suddenly appeared above her head with a "smack," slapping the door.
Instantly, Maya tightly closed her eyes, her small hands clenched into fists by the sides of her head, and screamed, "Ah..."
"What? Feeling guilty like a thief?" The man looked at her frightened look, trying hard not to laugh, speaking to her with a serious face.
Perhaps she really felt guilty, her little heart was beating so hard it almost jumped out of her mouth.
She opened her eyes, turned around, and when she saw the man behind her, she exploded, shouting at him angrily, "Are you out of your mind?"
The man, seeing her pale face, immediately reached out to grab her, asking, "Where are you planning to go?"
Hearing the man’s question, she stared with her big eyes wide open and swallowed hard before retorting, "You ruined the wedding, slept with me, what more do you want?"
Liam, hearing her accusations, was not angry. He gently bit her lip and said, "I haven’t had enough yet."
Hearing the man’s shameless confession, Maya was furious. She looked up, stared into his eyes, and solemnly said, "Liam, stop deceiving yourself. I’m not Grace, don’t project that promiscuity onto me."
"I’m sleeping with Maya." The man, listening to her reminder, pushed her back against the door and, biting her lip, said ambiguously.
Liam said: "Maya, you can’t escape."
"Are you planning to imprison me for life? Haven’t you heard that a forced melon is not sweet? I suggest you see a psychologist to get over this shadow soon." Maya coldly advised.
The man, hearing her suggestion, kissed her again. He never told her that she was his shadow, and he was never willing to step out of it in this lifetime. As long as he could keep Maya by his side, he was willing to do anything.
Feeling the man’s kiss, Maya was completely desperate, even more so than last night. She couldn’t find any hope to continue living.
However, this feeling was like poison; when she was helpless and hopeless, it gave her a sense of forgetting everything, making her want to linger in this fantasy, as if her life had no other meaning beyond seeking this pleasure.
