Chapter 95: Ming Hui Goes to Prison
Chapter 95: Ming Hui Sent to Prison
Fang Minghui adjusted his clothes to make himself look more composed. Even though he had lost to Meng Chao in everything, he didn’t want to seem like a defeated dog in terms of demeanor.
Despite pulling his clothes straight without a single wrinkle, the exhaustion written across his brows betrayed him. Fang Minghui was incredibly tired. In recent times, he had been dealing with constant ridicule and covert sarcasm from the family while also trying to build something significant, hoping to drag the Fang Family out of the mire and force those who had mocked him to see him in a new light.
But Fang Minghui knew this was impossible. After all, there were still three major obstacles pressing heavily on the Fang Family. Caught between dreams and harsh reality, Fang Minghui no longer had the same charismatic vigor he once had. Despite being only twenty-six, he looked closer to someone in their thirties or forties—his hair had already turned white.
Thus, when Meng Chao strode in confidently, Fang Minghui couldn’t suppress the jealousy rising within him. He once had been just like Meng Chao—tall, long-legged, and radiating charisma. Now, things had changed; even his back had been bent under the burden of life.
For a moment, Meng Chao almost didn’t recognize the man in front of him as Fang Minghui, but he didn’t waste his breath on small talk. Cutting straight to the heart of the matter, Meng Chao said, "I believe you understand why I’m here today. I thought these circumstances would have humbled you, but I didn’t expect that you’d manage to make yourself look even more pathetic."
Feigning innocence, Fang Minghui pretended not to understand what Meng Chao meant, his face showing deliberate confusion. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. If Mr. Meng, the grand celebrity, has nothing else, I suggest you leave. My humble abode clearly isn’t fit for one as illustrious as yourself."
Meng Chao let out a derisive laugh. "Do you really think I’m here today to argue with you? You know what you did. Do you honestly think I need evidence? I just came to see what a sorry state you’re in—and I must say, it’s even worse than I imagined. But trust me, the moment you try anything against Lin Qin again, I’ll make sure your life becomes even more miserable."
For someone like Fang Minghui, who once carried himself with pride and arrogance, what would deliver the most crushing blow? Nothing short of tramping on his self-esteem and grinding it into the dirt could utterly break him.
This was exactly what Meng Chao was doing now.
