Qin Shi finally stopped rambling and gestured for Gu Anjin to enter the room.
The room’s decor was simple, with some medical equipment added.
The curtains were drawn tightly, not letting a bit of light through.
Huo Xun lay on the bed, and even in the dim light, his pallor was evident.
"Why are you dressed like that?" He squinted his long eyes and frowned at the first sight of Gu Anjin. "Where’s your protection?"
Gu Anjin tugged at the scarf around her chest. "What I wear is my freedom."
"Freedom." Huo Xun’s tone had a hint of mocking amusement.
Gu Anjin knew what he was mocking, but thinking of Yue Siqing’s promise, she had struggled internally, yet still wanted to try trusting him.
Having loved someone for so many years, it’s not easy to change in an instant.
"But I’m really a bit surprised that you came to see me." Huo Xun noticed some words she didn’t want to hear, so he quickly changed the subject, a smile tugging at his lips. "Want to see if I’m dead yet?"

Gu Anjin said speechlessly, "I already know about Song Yi’s news. The people from Manchester have picked him up. Besides, Yue Siqing won’t pursue it anymore."

Gu Anjin looked at him with a complex expression.

"Cough." Qin Shi came in with a cup of hot water, coughed lightly and said, "Miss Gu, have some water. I turned on the heating for you."
Gu Anjin waved her hand, "No thank you."

With the heating on, she felt even hotter.
Tiny beads of sweat started forming on her forehead.
"You can at least take off the scarf, right?" Huo Xun narrowed his eyes, feeling something was not right with her reaction. "Did something happen?"
"There’s really nothing..."
Huo Xun’s eyes suddenly spotted a mark through a small gap between the scarf and her clothing.
His expression turned cold as ice in an instant.
His dark pupils turned incredibly intimidating.
He saw what it was, and knew why Gu Anjin covered herself so thoroughly.
"I was worried about you yesterday, but I didn’t expect you and him..."
"Huo Xun, this is my business!" Gu Anjin’s face flushed, angry and embarrassed.
This kind of thing is an embarrassing private matter, and he not only saw it but made a point to mention it with a sarcastic look.
It felt like being a teenager caught in a secret romance by a guardian, but what did it have to do with him anyway?
"Boss..."
"Get out." A crisp, efficient voice responded.
Qin Shi nodded and left the room.
Still, suspicion lingered in his eyes.
Even now, he didn’t know if Huo Xun was feigning concern or if he indeed felt something for Gu Anjin...
