Oddly enough, after fine-tuning the direction of line retrieval and the angle of force exertion of the fish, there was indeed some effect in playing the fish.

This principle is somewhat similar to the freshwater fish method called "figure-eight playing," where the angle of force and the angle of line retrieval are controlled around 90 degrees. It relies on reeling in to make the big fish change swimming direction, avoiding a tug-of-war in a straight line.

Over the next half hour, Lin Yang firmly controlled the rhythm of playing the fish by letting out and reeling in the line. The captain was continuously maneuvering the fishing boat to create better opportunities, while Zhang Lin, as the observer, was always alert to the surroundings.

After withstanding several strong surges of force from the fish, part of the fish’s strength was worn down. A single forward surge could only take about a hundred meters of line. With the help of the electric winch motor along with manual assistance from the angler, they were able to preliminarily control the situation.

The fishing line was made of nylon, specifically designed for catching giant fish, and its strength was definitely world-class. Such a thick nylon line could even be used to tie up cattle.

However, nylon fishing lines also have their drawbacks, as they are relatively less abrasion-resistant. Once the surface coating begins to fray, the strength significantly diminishes.

Additionally, the intense line retrieval and stretching could cause the line to heat up, especially when big fish exert strong and frequent force. The friction between the line, the line winder, and the rod’s guide rings could generate tremendous heat.

If this heat is not reduced, it will certainly affect the strength of the line.

The buff effects of catching a big fish only meant that the fish was lured to the bait, but it didn’t prevent the line from breaking; if the line overheated due to improper handling and even snapped directly, there would be no arguing it.
