There is a tongue twister that goes, ’A lama comes from the south, carrying five kilograms of sole (tǎ) fish’; in this saying, ’sole’ refers to this type of fish.

Although not quite understanding why this tongue twister was invented, the flavor of this fish is indeed good, and it’s not bony. It was just that the one Lin Yang had caught was a bit small.

Stone Nine Public, probably many who enjoy sea gathering or sea fishing know this fish—a poisonous fish by the name of He Changyou, also known as Stone Sea Bass, Tiger Head Fish, Stone Dog, and Stone Fish.

Of course, if Stone Fish comes up, what most people immediately think of is actually another type of Stone Fish, which also belongs to the venomous family, but is considerably larger than this little Stone Nine Public; it looks like a rockfish and lies flat on the seabed, unlike this little Stone Nine Public which still swims around.

Another type, called Zi Fish, is the scientific name. Likewise, many might have heard one or two of its aliases. It has many aliases such as Wuzi, Nine Sticks, Kui Long, Field Fish, Blackhead, Zhiyu, White Eye, Ding Fish, Black Ear Mullet, etc., all referring to Zi Fish, a brackish water fish that lives in shallow seas.

This species is also one of the main types of economic fish farmed along the coast of our country. Of course, farming this fish is not necessary since they are ubiquitous in shallow seas.
