Hua Jing’s lips tingled.
Her breath came in short, shaky gasps, her chest rising and falling rapidly. The world around her felt distant, blurred at the edges. Her mind was blank, completely void of any coherent thought.
She stared up at Zhao Yan, his piercing gaze locked onto her own, unreadable yet filled with something heavy—something dangerous. Something she wasn’t prepared to face.
What... just happened?
The kiss still lingered between them, the warmth of it, the sensation, the way their lips had moved together, perfectly in sync as if they had been meant to. Her fingers curled into fists, her body tensing as realization set in. She had kissed him back.
Why?
She had no answer.
Zhao Yan’s grip around her waist remained firm, his hold possessive, refusing to let her step away. His breathing was just as uneven as hers, but his expression remained calm, though his eyes gave him away. He was staring at her as if she had just shattered something inside him.
He knew it as well, that there was no way Hua Jing will get to know of his feelings if he just stayed silently at the side like he did in there previous life.
Hua Jing did not know this but she was quite clueless when it came to certain matters.
