Zhao Yan’s entire body stiffened, his breath caught in his throat.

He could hardly process what he had just heard. He watched in stunned silence as the woman who had mentioned Hua Jing’s name walked right past him, completely unaware of his presence. Even though he had already realized that no one could see him in this place, it still left a strange feeling in his chest.

The idea seemed impossible, yet everything in this bizarre world was already beyond comprehension. If she truly was here, he had to see her for himself. He couldn’t leave without confirming.
Without hesitation, Zhao Yan followed after the woman. Though he moved silently, he still maintained an odd sense of caution as if someone might notice him. It was an instinct ingrained in him, even though he had already confirmed that he was invisible in this place.
The woman entered a room just next to the one where the man who looked exactly like him lay unconscious. Zhao Yan stepped in after her, his breath hitching as he took in his surroundings. The room mirrored the last one—pristine white walls, strange machines, and an eerie silence only broken by the soft beeping sounds.
And there, lying on the bed, was a woman.
The woman in white checked over some instruments, adjusting the strange beeping machine before nodding to herself. "This is good," she murmured. "You’re making progress."
Zhao Yan slowly moved around her, rounding the bed until he had a clear view of the patient lying there.
His entire body trembled.
