Chapter 271: Blushing
"I’m not alone anymore," Riven murmured to himself.
He sat up a little, his arms weak, but steady. The movement reminded him that, yeah—he hadn’t eaten in three days. He was starving.
Just as that thought hit, the door creaked open.
Eli poked his head in, balancing a tray in his arms. "You’re awake. Again," he noted with a small smile. "Didn’t I tell you to sleep?"
Riven shrugged, a cheeky grin tugging at his lips. "I’m hungry."
Eli let out a half-groan, half-laugh. "Why am I not surprised?"
He set the tray down carefully on the side table and helped adjust Riven’s pillows. The tray was modest—some broth, soft bread, fruit. Nothing heavy. But it smelled heavenly.
Upon Eli’s insistence, Ronan and Soren had gone to sleep. They had barely gotten any sleep during the days Riven was in a coma. Neither had wanted to leave Riven’s side, but exhaustion had finally caught up with them. Ronan, being the considerate man he was, told the cook to make something light and healthy for Riven before collapsing.
Hearing Eli tell him this, Riven felt warm again, he could barely contain his smile. How lovely was it to have people who cared for you like this?
"I should’ve known food would wake you up faster than any medicine," Eli muttered, pouring a bit of broth into a bowl.
"You’re spoiling me," Riven teased, watching him with lidded eyes.
