Chapter 29: New Target
Including Riven, there were four men and five women in this little werewolf camp. All five women were alphas, naturally. And for the men?
Well, it didn’t matter what they were—omega, beta, or alpha—because none of them could get pregnant. And in this delightful little society, if you couldn’t pop out babies, you had the freedom to put your energy into anything you wanted.
Riven scowled.
He already knew the werewolf clan wasn’t exactly kind to its females, but seeing it firsthand? It was worse than he thought. Female omegas were valued for their ability to reproduce, sure, but outside of that? Weak. Helpless. Expected to stay home and rear offspring.
And male omegas?
Riven resisted the urge to let out a long, dramatic sigh.
Male omegas were straight-up liabilities.
They couldn’t breed, couldn’t fight as well as alphas or betas, and had only a few career options: doing odd jobs, living under some beta’s charity, or—his personal favorite—becoming some alpha’s little plaything. A side piece. A pretty little mistress tucked away for private entertainment.
Ugh.
Honestly, the whole thing was ridiculous. The world setting technically allowed same-sex relationships, but the general attitude toward them? Blegh. If you were a female alpha, you could still impregnate an omega female, so whatever, fine, no complaints there. But male-male relationships?
A complete waste of time.
