Chapter 34 Suspicions Towards Huo Yanting
"You know I don't like outsiders entering my private quarters. Where your woman is, I don't care, but on my turf—if you dare trespass—you know the consequences." Huo Yanting stopped wasting words and delivered a direct warning.
Huo Qinglin's expression darkened, his features taut as he struggled to maintain his composure: "Brother, don't tell me you're also eyeing the pear garden deed in her hands?"
"Only the incompetent rely on others' strength to curry favor," Huo Yanting retorted bluntly, sparing no regard for niceties.
Huo Qinglin's face stiffened again, and he snapped, "Brother, how can you hold me in such low regard? Even if my abilities don't match yours, you shouldn't belittle my efforts like this."
"Your so-called efforts are just tying yourself to a foolish woman. Just because she's gone missing, look at you panicking... that's the extent of your capability." Huo Yanting's words grew harsher, like relentless slaps striking Huo Qinglin's dignity again and again.
"I suspect my girlfriend is upstairs in your house. I have to go up and look!" Huo Qinglin's stance turned resolute.
"Take one step up those stairs, and just see what happens," Huo Yanting narrowed his cold eyes, his tone turning sharp and fierce.
Huo Qinglin genuinely seemed ready to storm upstairs.
But Huo Yanting's overwhelming aura of intimidation made him hesitate to act recklessly.
"Brother, I was just joking with you. Don't get angry, alright? I'm simply anxious. Since you said she's not here, then she's definitely not here. I trust every single word you say, Brother. I won't disturb you further." Huo Qinglin finally backed down, saying something to smooth things over before turning and quickly walking away.
Huo Yanting's eyes narrowed slightly as he walked to the front hall and locked the door tightly. Then, he ascended the stairs once more.
In the bedroom, the girl was sleeping soundly, her posture endearing. She lay sprawled on the blanket, drowsy and dazed in her slumber.
