Who is Pei Roujin aside from his famous identity as a movie Emperor? He was actually just the same as an ordinary person like others. Just a son and an older brother. Five years ago, Pei Roujin was actually not a known actor. He was just someone who’s eager to find a way for himself and his family.
Pei Roujin came from an abusive family. His father always gambled and his mother was never someone who dared to fight with him. They weren’t that even too wealthy and were even on the verge of getting poor because of his father’s mess. Thus, as the older brother and a man, he grew up quickly to find some odd jobs for his family. At first, no one noticed his looks because he was too malnourished and silent. During those times, he was just incharge of being the substitute or even a propsman to a set. He was very hard working and only hoped for his family to survive— or even just a small penny so his father wouldn’t hurt his mother anymore.
Until someone finally noticed him. It was an old Director whom he happened to save. The latter wanted to pay for what he did especially when he knew that he was just an amatuer actor. At first, the Director wanted to offer a supporting character role. His payment will surely double but Pei Roujin didn’t agree. Instead of taking that, he asked to have a job even with just being a staff member for a long time period.
What he cared about at that time was not a role about being an actor or the double payment but something that he can get with a longer period. If he accepts the role, his father will probably just get all the money or he cannot even use it for himself. Might as well have a job where he can get even every month. Even if it’s smaller, as long as there is, he won’t have to worry too much where he can find a way to earn.
When he said that, the Director looked at him for a few seconds before asking him something.
’Does he like to act?’
Pei Roujin answered that he likes it because he can earn money, not because he’s passionate. Hearing those words made the Director nod and say something again.
