As Yan Yuling looked into Jian Yuan’s eyes, her heart trembled. This person was not her friend, Gu Jianci. Though they looked alike, their eyes were different.
Jian Yuan withdrew his hand and smiled faintly. He patted her head and said, "Yuling, you must be tired. I have prepared a room for you. Go clean up and rest."
Before she could respond, he turned to the maids and added, "Take Miss Yan to her room and make sure she is well taken care of."
At his command, two women approached and said, "Miss Yan, this way, please."
Yan Yuling observed them carefully and realized they were not ordinary servants. They were likely bodyguards assigned to monitor her. Uncertain about the situation, she decided it was best not to provoke this man.
After weighing her options, she nodded and said, "Jianci, I’m hungry. Could you prepare some food for me?"
Jian Yuan’s anger visibly lessened at her request. He nodded and agreed readily, "Of course. I will make your favorite dish. Let’s eat together."
"Okay."
As she was escorted upstairs, Jian Yuan remained where he stood, watching her ascend to the second floor and enter the master bedroom. A satisfied smile spread across his face as he headed to the kitchen, deciding to prepare her favorite egg porridge himself.
