Chapter 26: Rejected
Hearing the marketing director’s words, the crying woman beside Yan Yuling suddenly raised her head. They thought they would only pick one script today. Unexpectedly, the marketing director selected three scripts, which increased their chances of being selected.
After another fifteen minutes, they finished voting. The marketing director nodded and said, "Everyone except the screenwriters who wrote these scripts can leave the conference room."
Noticing that her script was rejected, Yan Yuling let out a long sigh. She picked up her bag and followed others to walk out of the conference room. When she looked back, she saw that the crying woman’s script had been chosen.
After she left, Yan Lingling walked out from the next meeting room, looked at her back and muttered, "Yan Yuling, this is just a small punishment for humiliating me that day!"
In the conference room, a senior screenwriter frowned and asked, "Director Wen, why was this script not selected? The story is well written and the plot is very fresh. I believe it will definitely cause a sensation after it is broadcast."
"Teacher Lin, although the plot is fresh, the story lacks depth and the characters are shallow. Audiences want to see drama, revenge, and conflict. Stories about sweet fated love are no longer popular. If we choose this script, we will lose money," Director Wen said.
"It may not be a popular genre, but the story plot progresses smoothly and the transition from teenage years to adulthood isn’t abrupt. The writer clearly laid a solid foundation for the characters to grow as the story progresses. I didn’t see the lack of depth in the story and characters at all," Teacher Lin frowned deeper.
"Unless you have made the decision before the meeting, I don’t see any reason for us to reject this good script," Teacher Lin added meaningfully.
When everyone heard her words, they all looked at Director Wen, waiting for his responses.
