Chapter 19: Lie
Although the entire area had turned cold those present were so high on emotion they couldn't feel the chill. Like bloodhounds every single human stared at the five betrayers with enraged eyes. Through the text-to-speech app of a smart phone, the monster spoke for the first time.
And it did not lord over them in pride, nor did it threaten them with its power.
Instead, it asked a simple question. One of ignorance borne out of a monster.
"Why did you betray your own ally?"
Betrayal, already a universally accepted sin was bad enough. Having the betrayed being related to a being of immense strength. Made it so much worse. Everyone knew. If handled badly, it would spell the end.
The black knight before them almost killed them all for merely touching its property. What more if it learned of why its ally was betrayed? In an instant, the entire group weigh what they could lose, including Tessa.
Five students versus the anger of the terrifying monster before them.
Most didn't even know who was the person betrayed. The only thing everyone cared about was that the monster had asked the question.
Tessa dashed forward and appeared in front of Trevor. She then struck him with so much force his body got thrown back.
"TREVOR ROGERS! ANSWER ME! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!"
Elian who saw the extremely violent reaction understood. Considering Tessa was a an Ex-breaker and Trevor was still a jobless that attack was real. She held nothing back. And it wasn't that she was angry.
