Chapter 286 - 277: Dreaming of One or Two Updates (Uploaded First, Edited Later)
The next day Li Huan came again, dressed in a cyan sports outfit and black sneakers, clearly dressed for physical work. But the task at hand was no longer tilling but moving.
The courtyard house to the west had already been completely tidied up and aired out for seven to eight months. It was ready to be inhabited once the furniture was moved in. The books and some boxes to be packed were also prepared. The next morning, a vehicle showed up at the doorstep with seven or eight young men in green military uniforms brought in to start moving things.
When Li Huan arrived, he saw the bustling scene of the move and learned that they were moving to a hutong next door.
With many people and a short distance, they managed to move three loads of items in one morning, but the trickiest part was settling in.
Firstly, large pieces of furniture were placed, followed by smaller items sorted into each room. By late afternoon, when Li Xianglu and Qin Xi left, the house was almost ready for living, just lacking a bit of scattered main decorative placements.
The old man still resided in the eastern wing room of the first courtyard; the west side was the living room, much larger than before, consisting of two big rooms combined.
In the second courtyard lived Li Xianglu and Qin Xi, their bedrooms as well as a small guest room. A small adjoining room on the east side of their bedroom was transformed into a bathroom, whilst the western room became a study linked to the living room. In sum, the two occupied the whole second courtyard. Originally there was a lotus pond between the corridor that separated the first and second courtyards. Still, when it was rebuilt, the old man felt that since Li Xianglu and Qin Xi would be living in the second courtyard and might have children in the future, having a lotus pond wasn’t safe. It would be better to have one constructed at the back in the third courtyard.
Therefore, they built a round concrete flower pool, and the old man, with great enthusiasm, pointed at the flower pool and suggested, "This would be perfect for growing some spinach."
Li Xianglu didn’t mind, but Li Huan immediately felt a wave of weakness in his legs. "Dad, we don’t have any spinach. If you want some, I can buy you a truckload."
As the second semester progressed, school activities increased significantly, including speech competitions in both Chinese and English.
There were various forms of rewards too—exam rewards, competition rewards, even a contest for tidying up, all of which also had rewards.
