Chronicle of the 70s

Qin Zhen had barely finished speaking when he saw Qin Shouren huffing and puffing as he pushed the cart out from behind.

Li Xianglu greeted Mr. Qin with a smile and hurried to serve the rice porridge from the pot.

Sister Xing had prepared millet and mung bean porridge and vegetarian dumplings for dinner. Seeing that guests had arrived, Li Xianglu sliced a plate of beef and fried a dish of peanuts, and it wasn’t long before Qin Xi came in to help serve the food.

A table was quickly set up outside. Qin Zhen, still fuming, sat there. Li Xianglu went over, patted his shoulder, and said, "Hurry up, go wash up. There’s beef that you love to eat."

Qin Zhen glanced at the table and then reluctantly went to wash his hands. Only then did Mr. Li give Qin Shouren a meaningful look.

Qin Shouren was furious. After taking a big gulp of porridge and no longer feeling thirsty, he said, "This kid, these past few days he’s been glued to the hospital. He joins me for lunch when I get off work and waits for me until I finish in the afternoon. Only after sending me back does he go home himself. I have no idea what’s gotten into him." Qin father paused before continuing, "Only today did I find out the nonsense he’s been up to. A female doctor came to complain, saying Qin Zhen had gone to her and warned her not to seduce his dad, claiming that their family doesn’t need a stepmom!"

When Li Xianglu saw Qin Zhen come back with washed hands, she passed him a towel and rolled her eyes, "Look at the stupid thing you’ve done; you’re affecting dad’s work."

Qin Zhen frowned and asked, "What should I do?"

Li Xianglu replied irritably, "You should lock dad at home and let him quit his job. That’ll do it."

Qin Zhen’s eyes lit up at the idea: "Right, if he doesn’t work, that’s it. Those women are only after him because he has a good job and high salary. If he’s got no job, who would want him!"
