In the blink of an eye, Cain’s Shooting Star Dragon Halberd collided with Reverend Madness’s sword. Their clashing powers produced a massive black-and-white shockwave that tore the earth apart and made the sky itself tremble.
Cain clenched his teeth, pouring every ounce of power he possessed into his halberd. Yet, despite his full strength, he managed only to match the force of a single-handed sword swing from Reverend Madness.
He then caught sight of a nightmarish entity emerging from the staff and aiming its fangs at his neck. Reacting instantly, Cain opened his mouth and unleashed a storm of shadow flames, battering the creature backward. However, that momentary distraction gave Reverend Madness the opening he needed to twist the sword’s angle, parry the halberd aside, and unleash a second slash.
Nightmarish energy crackled around the blade as it struck Cain’s torso, biting through flesh and protective aura. The force of the blow propelled him thousands of meters away, cutting a ragged groove through scorched soil.
Cain drove the butt of his halberd into the ground to stop himself. A searing pain flared along his ribs. The sword strike had not only lacerated him physically but also carried a spirit-based element. Luckily, the protective shield placed by the Sky Sovereign still guarded his mind and soul, though the strain on it was evident. Cracks had begun to form in the intricate runes that served as his spiritual barrier.
