Chapter 1334
"Marriage is a major event in a woman’s life. If you stumble here, the rest of your life will be bitter. You’ve already suffered once. Do you want your child to follow your old path?"
Grandma nagged, while Ruby Spencer listened silently.
If it were Aunt speaking, Ruby could retort, but Grandma’s words were difficult to argue against, especially since the concern was genuine.
"Mom, don’t worry too much. I’ve got a handle on Janie’s situation," Ruby Spencer said. "She’s only 23 after the New Year. There’s really no rush. Look at Marshall—he’s 27 and still not married!"
After hearing this, Grandma turned to ask Uncle, "Is Marshall coming home this year?"
Before Uncle could answer, Aunt quickly said, "Yes, he’ll definitely come back. How could he not? He’s just been extremely busy with work lately and will come back a couple of days late, maybe... on the fourth or fifth day of the New Year."
Grandpa was rather displeased, "By the end of the fifth day, the New Year is practically over."
Grandma, feeling for her grandson, comforted Grandpa, "It’s not easy for Marshall to start a business outside. It’s natural to be busy around the New Year. As long as he can come back to see us, it’s fine. Family shouldn’t fuss over rituals. It doesn’t matter which day he comes back..."
Jane McCain brought out some fruit and gently placed it on the coffee table.
"Grandma, I’ll head back to my room first and come down later to stay up late," she said.
