For the next few hours, Jane McCain used work to pass the time.

After handling the tasks, she continued sketching designs—work she could do endlessly. Constant revisions, continuous tweaks, a change in color scheme, and it’s a new plan. Striving for perfection can be never-ending.

Her mind wasn’t idle either, occasionally glancing outside the floor-to-ceiling windows as the sky darkened... Is he still waiting outside?

To be honest, Jane really didn’t want to let him have his way.

Maybe it’s a bit unreasonable, but she was filled with heartache and bitterness, while he seemed so unbothered, so confident. It made her angry, it left her upset.
