Nathaniel Summers looked at Cherry, "Stop making trouble."
"I’m not," she said with a bright smile.
Nathaniel Summers remained silent.
A moment later, he sat down by the bed, lit a cigarette for himself, inhaled to his lungs, and exhaled a thin, swirling mist.
She crawled over, clinging to his shoulder, her hand trying to grasp the smoke in the air, amusing herself with a touch of boredom.
"Last time you slipped up, Alexander Summers won’t be unprepared." After a long while, Nathaniel Summers spoke, "You are very smart, but people are not as easy to deal with as you think, and if something goes wrong again, you may not get off scot-free."
Flicking off the ash, Nathaniel Summers said, "When you’ve had enough fun, I’ll take you back to the village."
The hand on his shoulder suddenly tightened, the nails digging deep into his flesh.
Nathaniel Summers frowned slightly and glanced down, but said nothing.
"I’ve not had enough fun, I’ll never have enough fun!" The little girl’s eyes were dark and fierce as she spoke.
Yet Nathaniel Summers smiled gently, pulling her hand away, and then patted her head, "But I can no longer afford to keep you, Cherry."
