Christopher Simonson racked his brain over Purple Summers’s situation.
Going through the back door can be a minor or a major issue.
In trivial terms, it’s just a small favor from others; but in grave terms, it amounts to using one’s position for personal gain.
The president, of all people, should restrain himself and lead by example, but he simply couldn’t stand by and do nothing as he watched his daughter’s belly grow bigger day by day.
He managed to arrange her internship locally and asked the prosecutor in the same office to take extra care of her, ensuring at the very least that her workstation was far from the printer.
There were three other students interning alongside Purple Summers at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Together they shared the departmental clerical work, accompanied prosecutors to court, and either observed or took notes. These were tasks that Purple Summers had already mastered and found quite easy.
Around noon, close to the end of lunchtime, Inspector Julian Shaw came over to see Purple Summers.
The Shaw and Simonson families were somewhat acquainted, and knowing that Purple Summers was interning there, Julian Shaw made a special trip to check on her, a gesture of care from a senior.
