Chapter 2762: Want To Kidnap Richard Lee
Outside her office, several corporate employees happened to walk past the glass partition. The moment they saw the chilling, beautiful smile playing on Angelica Lee’s face through the glass wall, every single one of them instinctively lowered their heads, clutched their files tighter, and quickened their pace down the corridor. Everyone in the company knew one absolute rule. Whenever their Young Miss smiled like that, someone was about to become her next target.
....
Tang Qin Hao went directly to the venue of the International Medical Research Conference. The moment he arrived, a massive crowd of fellow delegates, colleagues, and journalists surrounded him, all pressing for answers regarding his unexpected absence during the previous afternoon’s high-profile sessions. Rather than inventing a generic excuse, he simply and calmly told them the absolute truth.
Many people were left completely paralysed with shock when they heard the terrifying details of what had transpired. They could not comprehend how anyone could be bold, reckless, and powerful enough to orchestrate the kidnapping of a world-renowned keynote speaker in broad daylight right inside a luxury venue. Fortunately, he explained, a few highly observant bystanders had accidentally witnessed the suspicious incident, made the split-second decision to tail the captors’ vehicle, and ultimately managed to execute a dangerous rescue operation to bring him back alive.
Following the brief explanation, Tang Qin Hao calmly walked onto the main stage and successfully completed the masterclass presentation he had been scheduled to deliver the previous day. The moment his medical findings were projected onto the screens, the entire auditorium fell into a stunned silence. With this revolutionary new technology he had pioneered, complex neurosurgery would become exponentially easier, safer, and infinitely more efficient for surgeons worldwide.
Deep within the crowded audience, the disguised Yu Qi and Long Hui were sitting quietly in the rear rows of the conference hall, their eyes proudly watching her brother command the stage. At the same time, however, they did not let their guard down for a single second. Their eyes discreetly swept over the surrounding crowd, keeping a vigilant eye out to see whether Angelica Lee’s underground syndicates would still dare to brazenly make another hostile move inside the venue.
Suddenly, a distinct vibration buzzed against Yu Qi’s wrist. She opened an encrypted window on her device and received a comprehensive data dossier from Neko-chan regarding the targeted investigation she had requested earlier. According to the intelligence grid, the two individuals who maintained the absolute closest, most unshakable relationships with Angelica Lee were none other than her patriarch grandfather, Albert Lee, and her father, Richard Lee. Both of them firmly, blindly believed in Angelica Lee’s ruthless capability to lead the Lee Family empire to an even greater pinnacle of global wealth.
However, as Yu Qi scrolled deeper into the hidden server logs Neko-chan had breached, a much darker detail came to light. Her father, Richard Lee, was actually the primary mastermind who had been in direct, covert contact with Edward Potter, the high-ranking director in charge of the sinister MicroTech Organisation. After Edward Potter had been captured and neutralised by Yu Qi and Long Hui during their previous operation, that lucrative connection had been completely and abruptly cut off.
Yet, Richard Lee was incredibly clever and adaptable. Instead of panicking over Edward Potter’s sudden disappearance, he had already swiftly bypassed the fallout, located another high-level executive to replace him, and continued seamlessly managing their illegal human-trafficking cooperation from the shadows.
Yu Qi silently tilted her screen, showing every single piece of damning evidence Neko-chan had uncovered to Long Hui. Long Hui’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as he carefully read through every line of the encrypted document.
"So..." Long Hui asked, raising a sharp eyebrow as he looked at his fiancée. "What exactly do you want to do with this piece of information?"
"Well, since Angelica Lee seems to thoroughly enjoy kidnapping other people’s family members for her own twisted amusement." Yu Qi said, her lips curving into a freezing, razor-sharp smile. "Let’s see how well she handles her own medicine when she wakes up to find out that her own doting father has been mysteriously kidnapped out from under her nose."
"When exactly do you want to initiate the strike?" Long Hui asked, his hand instinctively resting near his tactical gear.
"Tonight." Yu Qi answered without a single shred of hesitation.
"Sure... let’s do whatever your heart desires." Long Hui nodded smoothly, his loyalty absolute.
Eventually, the International Medical Research Conference officially drew to a successful conclusion. That evening, Tang Qin Hao and the rest of the elite participants were formally invited to attend a grand celebration party hosted by the board of directors. However, Tang Qin Hao decisively chose not to participate in the high-society event. As for the official reason provided to the organisers, he simply told them flatly that he still felt mentally unsettled and physically exhausted after surviving a daylight abduction. The terrified organisers did not dare to push or persuade the legendary surgeon any further, respectfully bowing and allowing him to skip the festivities.
In reality, however, Tang Qin Hao had received an encrypted text message from an entirely unknown, untraceable number just an hour prior, warning him in no uncertain terms to stay far away from the party. Even though the anonymous message itself was highly suspicious on paper, Tang Qin Hao’s sharp instincts told him that it was a genuine, protective warning rather than a veiled threat from his original captors. He chose to trust his gut.
He quietly informed his young assistant about the text. The assistant’s eyes widened in panic, and he immediately reached for his phone to report the message to the police detectives, but Tang Qin Hao firmly caught his wrist and stopped him.
