Chapter 977: The Party
Arty woke the next morning with a bubbling excitement that made her sit up before the sunlight had even fully spilled through her window.
This otherworld place was strange, beautiful, and alive with Magic, and it was turning out far better than she had expected.
It felt like stepping into the very pages of the fairy tales she had once seen in her own world.
Here, she could use her abilities as much as she wanted without the fearful stares from people, without whispers of "dangerous" around her that she always heard her mother and big brother was saying.
Well... maybe she was still dangerous with her power. But instead of cowering, the people here admired her for it and even praised her.
She stretched, then slipped out of bed and padded to the small adjoining bath. The steam and warm water woke her completely, and by the time she dressed in the simple but finely made clothes Sylmira had given her, her mind was already racing ahead.
She perched on the edge of her bed again, thinking.
It had only been a few days since she’d arrived but her control over her powers had already improved dramatically. Now comes the real challenge, she must venture into the wilderness for her first taste of adventure.
The thought sent a thrill through her chest, but it was laced with another quieter feeling.
Eccar’s sudden departure still bothered her. He had gone to another world and no doubt was doing something important. But no one had told her exactly what.
Erend and Eccar were keeping something from her. She could feel it. Wasn’t the whole point of sending her here to make her useful? If so... why leave her in the dark?
The answer that came to her was unpleasant but logical. Maybe they simply thought she wasn’t ready. Maybe to them, telling her anything now would be a waste of time.
