Chapter 1729: Darkness and Fear
"Don’t kill me, don’t kill me." A voice shouted from somewhere, followed by a gunshot that startled everyone.
The boss and Old Two immediately pressed themselves against the wall, tense as could be. Even though they held guns, their hands and feet trembled.
Everyone held their breath and turned off their flashlights, enveloped in darkness.
This wasn’t outside, where you might catch a glimpse of something by starlight or moonlight; this was inside the mountain, completely secluded from any external light, a pitch-blackness where you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
Gu Fan was now sweating profusely. It didn’t matter what had just happened, who was shouting, or who fired the gun.
The darkness all around felt terrifying, and everyone feared something dangerous could be silently approaching in the shadows.
Initially, everyone was still, creating a very quiet environment. They couldn’t help but take a few steps, making some slight noise.
Gradually, Gu Fan noticed that some of these noises sounded off because everyone wouldn’t move aimlessly, and the noises wouldn’t persist, but one noise was intermittent.
Finally, the boss and Old Two lost patience and turned on their flashlights, instantly revealing a ghostly white face before them.
The boss and Old Two were utterly startled, as if they’d seen a ghost.
"Damn!" The boss and Old Two practically rolled and crawled backward, the boss firing the first shot, his hand trembling so violently he dropped the gun.
