Gu Fan knew Ouyang Jin was in trouble, likely unable to escape. Since Catherine wanted him alive, Ouyang Jin wouldn’t be in mortal danger, but Li Shi, having possibly lost her value in Catherine’s eyes, was in a precarious position.
Seizing the moment when Catherine took most of her people out, Gu Fan planned to forcefully take Li Shi away.
