By the time Gu Fan returned to the hotel, he discovered that Li had already slipped back, although Li looked a bit worse for wear, with a face even more bruised and swollen than Gu Fan’s.
"I’m a member of Organization X, after all," Gu Fan feigned indignation. "I’ve been beaten by these punks. We must seek revenge."
Li shook his head, "Forget it, we’re on a secret mission. We mustn’t let Organization X know we’ve been here."
"So, that’s it? We’re just going to let this go?" On seeing Li’s helpless look, Gu Fan instantly understood that indeed, they had to let it go.
Both of them, grimy from the altercation, each took a bath before lying on their beds to continue chatting. As they talked into the night, sleepiness overtook them, and they closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The next day, at Gu Fan’s suggestion, they tried to approach the residence of their target. However, they were shocked to arrive and see several trucks parked outside, seemingly in the midst of moving.
Li started to worry, "They’re not thinking of leaving, are they? We haven’t even taken any pictures yet. If we fail Catherine’s mission, we’ll be punished when we return."
Gu Fan also pretended to be frantic, "What do we do, what do we do? Shall we just run over there with our faces covered?"
Li shook his head, "Even with covered faces, Organization X won’t see who we are, but we’ll definitely arouse suspicion and might be monitored. If our identities are exposed, it’ll make things difficult for Catherine, and we’ll still be punished."
