Chapter 644: Surveillance and Anti-Surveillance
Gu Fan and Ouyang Jin went over it repeatedly, discovering that either Gu Chuanshan had gotten the direction wrong, or that at that location, one island had really become two islands.
"Strange, my father should have had the nautical charts, why didn’t he notice this problem?" Gu Fan was deep in thought while Ouyang Jin explained, "There are so many islands of various sizes in the Triangle Sea Area, the locals probably got lazy when they were drawing the map. Some of the smaller islands were not drawn at all, only the main islands were represented. Otherwise, how could so many islands fit on one sheet of paper?"
Gu Fan thought this made sense. He realized his father had seen many islands along the way that were not represented on the map. This wouldn’t be surprising then.
Ouyang Jin reiterated, "I passed that location with a group three times, and there was only one island."
"Then, it’s necessary for us to verify this. Let’s go to the location mentioned in my father’s notes and see if there is indeed only one island." Having said this, Gu Fan appeared grateful to Ouyang Jin. "That’s great, even though your role is becoming less and less relevant, you are truly an indispensable companion."
After hearing this, Ouyang Jin was not too happy, "Are you complimenting me or teasing me?"
Gu Fan chuckled, then handed the notes back to Ouyang Jin, "Please, brother, have a look again. Maybe there are similar areas?"
Ouyang Jin flicked through the pages with a reluctant look, then shook his head, "That’s it. My knowledge is limited. It wasn’t easy to discover this one."
"Alright, even this one might be enough. So, moving on..." Just as Gu Fan was about to finish his sentence, Ouyang Jin proposed, "I’ve fulfilled my purpose here, so I won’t accompany you to this place tomorrow."
