At that moment, Gu Fan, Lu Yi, Jie, Xu Haowen, Du Jun, and Ouyang Jin were all taken hostage. Seeing the weapons and the menacing look of the pirates, everyone was terrified.
They had heard stories of hostages not faring well if the pirates didn’t receive the ransoms they demanded. Naturally, no one wanted to meet such ill fate.
Just then, Qiao Ya stood up with his hands raised high, immediately drawing the pirates’ alertness as they aimed their guns at him.
Qiao Ya calmly uttered something, causing the pirate to frown. He said something else which made the pirate hesitate for a moment before walking away with Qiao Ya.
Gu Fan was puzzled. As the language was foreign, he couldn’t understand what Qiao Ya had said, but noticed that the pirates’ attitude towards Qiao Ya seemed less hostile now.
Ouyang Jin leaned over to Gu Fan and whispered, "My timing for boarding your ship couldn’t be worse, Gu Fan. Given the gravity of this crisis, risk should correspond to reward. I’m asking for another ten thousand."
"Your timing for negotiation is a bit off," Gu Fan said, shaking his head in amusement and disbelief at the audacity of his teammate.
Gu Fan and Ouyang Jin’s whispering drew the attention of a pirate, who swiftly pivoted his gun towards them. They couldn’t understand his warning but the menacing tone was enough to silence them completely.
When Gu Fan saw a pirate approaching, he knew an opportunity had presented itself. He was confident he could take this pirate but there were three other pirates stationed elsewhere, complicating matters.
