Chapter 552: It’s So Hard to Request a Long Leave
Inside the company, Boss Ding’s eyes were wide with what resembled anger. This made Gu Fan feel somewhat embarrassed, but he still boldly said, "I’m sorry, Boss Ding, but I really have something to do and need to take a two-month leave."
"That’s an awful long break," Boss Ding replied, displeased. All Gu Fan could do was give a pleading smile, as if to say, "Please, my dear boss."
Then Boss Ding asked, "What exactly is up, Gu Fan? Why ask for such a long leave? If the reason is valid, I would permit it. But if it isn’t, I’m sorry but I won’t approve."
"Well..." Gu Fan couldn’t think of any justification that would get Boss Ding to give him leave. As he felt awkward, Boss Lei suddenly arrived, having overheard the conversation from the office door.
Boss Lei laughed and said, "Young people always have special things to do. Boss Ding, please let him take the leave."
Boss Ding gave a dry laugh, seeming troubled. "But, Boss Lei," he said, "it’s not that I’m not giving you face. Gu Fan is my only employee. You have no idea how capable he is—he can clean, act as security, and be a receptionist. A one-man army. I don’t have enough hands here. Where am I going to find such a good employee?"
At his words, Gu Fan almost rolled his eyes. As it turned out, Boss Ding was indeed treating him as a one-man workforce while only giving him a single salary. The thought made him feel wronged.
Boss Lei added, "Why don’t I provide some funding so that you can hire more help? Your company’s performance isn’t all that great, and Gu Fan, an intern, can’t help too much. Please grant him his leave."
"Alright," Boss Ding said. "Since Boss Lei is generous, I’ll approve the leave." At the mention of money, he burst into a wide smile. Money was always negotiable.
