Liu Yao was cooking at home when the doorbell suddenly rang. Upon opening the door, she was so startled to see Gu Fan that she quickly shut it.
"What are you doing? A guest is a guest, you shouldn’t be so inhospitable." Gu Fan was quick enough to stop the door from closing, and with superior strength, he pushed the door back open.
Left with no other option, Liu Yao had to open the door. Putting on a bright smile, she said, "Oh, it’s you, Gu Fan. I thought it was a salesman. My apologies, it was a misunderstanding."
If this wasn’t a glaring lie, what was? Gu Fan resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Liu Yao and pretended not to mind, "No problem, mistakes happen. Even I make them. The last time you came to my house, I mistook you for the aunt from next door coming to borrow soy sauce."
Upon hearing his words, Liu Yao almost exploded in anger. She considered her own appearance and figure — distinctly different from that of an old auntie — and thought Gu Fan was being particularly mean with his words.
Nonetheless, Liu Yao held her temper, and greeted them with a smile, "You guys give no warning before dropping by. I could’ve been better prepared."
"No need to be polite. We were worried that if you knew we were coming, you might have run away, hence the lack of notice." Gu Fan unabashedly stated, leaving Liu Yao outraged but helpless, "What kind of things are you saying, Gu Fan? Don’t forget, we’re allies now. So, what has brought you to your ally so suddenly?"
To this, Gu Fan nodded, "I’ve come to know about the Destiny Stone, about the secret buried under the old house, and about the changes in my own fate."
At this point, Liu Yao was utterly surprised, "What, you already know everything? Did your father tell you?"
