Chapter 501: Welcome, beautiful lady
Gu Fan spent the entire night tossing and turning, unable to sleep. The chilly weather prevented him from venturing to the balcony to ponder over matters, so he lay in bed, hands cradling his head, trying to recollect all previous happenings.
Images of the boss, his father Gu Chuanshan, Zhang Yang and Ning Qi surfaced within his thoughts - all harboring particular interests toward the old house.
"Is it all merely a coincidence?" Gu Fan began to question. After having gone through so many events, a multitude of coincidences emerging together may not be a coincidence after all.
Gu Fan recalled the boss first proposing the acquisition of his family’s old house while a member of the Zhu family, previous tenants of the house, was present. Why would the boss express his interest in the old house so randomly? Could the Zhu family member have hinted something to him?
Zhang Yang was a descendant of one of the former families inhabiting the house, which accounted for his interest, but what about Ning Qi? What were her motives, and what agenda was the Shennv Xuanhui club pushing for? Almost everyone was eyeing the old house.
Gu Fan began to speculate, was the true intention of Shennv Xuanhui to acquire the old house by leveraging the emotional ties he had with Lin Xi?
"This is no test. They’re not testing my love for Lin Xi." Gu Fan grew increasingly suspicious of Shennv Xuanhui’s real intentions. Would they truly leave Lin Xi alone, upon finding his love for her to be genuine? Did all the previous conflicts amount to merely a game?
Gu Fan vividly remembered everyone making a concerted effort to save Lin Xi the last time. That incident in itself was a proof of his love for her. There was nothing more to prove.
"What are you all up to?" Tormented by his thoughts, he couldn’t sleep. He reached out to touch the wall, hoping to figure out what made the old house so special, but to no avail. He sighed.
