Chapter 365: Super Civilization
To reach the clock tower’s main door, they had to first climb ninety-nine steps. Gu Fan and his group took a short break before they gathered their strength and climbed up. After breaking through the electronic protective barrier, everyone started to feel optimistic, believing they could overcome any difficulty that came their way.
The path was clear, and their earlier worries that the steps could have been booby-trapped proved to be unfounded.
When they finally arrived at the main door of the clock tower, no one dared to touch it. Everyone was cautious, but Lu Yi couldn’t stand it anymore, saying that they couldn’t just stand around staring at it, it would be better to use an object to try and check it.
"Good idea, I agree." Lin Xi agreed, and with a motion of her finger, she levitated a slab of stone from the ground to slam into the door.
With a thunderous crash, the slab shattered, but the door remained closed and immovable, giving everyone a sigh of relief that nothing strange happened.
Lin Xi used her senses to check the door again, confirming that it was only an ordinary door. However, when she reached out to touch it, the clock tower’s door suddenly erupted with a dazzling light and a force that repelled her hand.
"What?" Lan Xi could hardly believe it and immediately stepped back, while Gu Fan and the others retreated a good number of steps, wondering what kind of mechanism had been triggered and whether it would be dangerous.
A figure appeared in the shimmering light on the clock tower’s door, a woman with purple hair and gray eyes. She was beautiful but expressionless, floating in the air.
"Who are you?" Lin Xi couldn’t help but ask. The purple-haired woman calmly replied, "I am an image left by the ancient super civilization as a warning to those who come here not to covet what’s buried here."
