Chapter 103 Poacher
Five tents huddled together. For safety, two people shared a tent. Lin Xi, Su Hui, and Qin Jia, being women, shared the largest tent due to their gender. With Su Hui present, Gu Fan didn’t have to worry about Lin Xi’s safety.
Although Du Jun wasn’t comfortable sharing a small space with someone else, he reluctantly joined Ouyang Jin in a tent for the sake of safety. If anything suspicious happened, they would contact each other through walkie-talkies.
Ouyang Jin had said that after only one day’s travel, they wouldn’t encounter any packs of wolves or fierce animals, but everyone still stowed their weapons nearby, just in case.
Just as everyone was deep in sleep, the sound of a car engine disturbed their dreams, lighting an instant spark of tension. Gu Fan dressed quickly, grabbed his dagger, and rushed out.
Gu Fan wasn’t the only one. Everyone else was awake, especially Su Hui, whose vigilance was the highest in the group. But she did not seem as tense as Gu Fan.
He spotted the headlights of two cars rushing towards them. Gu Fan’s brows knitted together. It was only five in the morning, and dawn had barely broken, so why were they here?
Ouyang Jin came out to inspect the speeding vehicles, which appeared to be two Jeeps. His expression grew anxious.
Three men wearing sunglasses and cowboy hats stepped out of the Jeeps when they arrived at the campsite. They were also wearing scarves around their necks, giving them a western cowboy vibe. However, each man bore an aggressive aura that suggested they meant no good.
One of them spoke up. "Sorry to interrupt you, we saw you guys and came to ask for help. Our water supply is running low, we’re hoping to get a little from you. We only need one pot."
Upon hearing this, everyone eased up. They had plenty of water to share, and besides, the three men posed no threat. Even if there were two more people in the car, they couldn’t possibly be a match for a group of eleven, especially when Su Hui alone could take on three men. Therefore, the sudden appearance of these men did not stir any threat in their hearts.
However, Gu Fan felt uneasy. These men exuded an aggressive aura, as though they were up to no good. And why were they wearing sunglasses so early in the morning when the sun wasn’t blindingly bright? Were they hiding the murderous gleam in their eyes or concealing their identities?
