"Baby, it’s time for bed," Shelley said with a smile.
"But Mom, I don’t want to sleep yet," Little Richie said, lying on the bed.
"You won’t grow up if you don’t sleep."
"But I’m already growing so fast."
"Uh..." Shelley furrowed her brows, momentarily unsure of how to respond. It was her first time being a mother and she really had no experience, especially with such a unique child. *This left her in a dilemma.* "In any case, you need to sleep, alright? Or else... How about I tell you another story?"
With that, Shelley pulled a fairy-tale book from the bookshelf beside her.
"No need, Mom!" Richie quickly exclaimed, "I’ll sleep well!"
"You don’t like my storytelling?" Shelley pouted, puffing her cheeks in mock anger.
"No, Mom, it’s not that. I just... suddenly felt sleepy." Saying this, Richie pretended to yawn.
"Alright then, you sleep tight." Shelley put the fairy-tale book back, blew out the candle, and left the room.
Moonlight slanted in through the gaps in the curtains.
