Chapter 28: Alive And Well
Meanwhile, back in the college.
Another debate broke out between two groups. One comprising the chosen, and the powerless. It seemed that being chosen not only granted humans amazing powers, but it also made them have quite an appetite.
The food in the pantry should have lasted them a couple of weeks or maybe even a month, with rationing. However, they were already running low on most ready-to-eat foods.
"We risk our lives to keep you useless fucks safe," a chosen argued. "We deserve more food, just for that!"
A few people nodded their heads, but the other weren’t so pleased with their entitlement.
"Oh yeah? Don’t pretend to be so high and mighty. You’ve been using us a human shields all along! You say you’re risking your lives, when in reality you all are cowards who only think about themselves!"
This time, more voices agreed with the speaker’s emotions. There were more unawakened people than the chosen, so obviously their voice would be louder.
However, having more people on their side meant nothing. The world had changed, and the strong ruled over the weak. That was all there was to it.
The ordinary human had been grateful for the chosen at first. But when they began treating others like slaves, that’s when the problem arose.
Alaric tried to keep everything under control, but failed. It seemed all the rest he had in his students’ hearts was long gone.
Moreover, with the zombies on the campus gone, they didn’t have a common enemy to focus on. Hence, everyone began infighting over their perceived injustice.
