Chapter 93: Sophia in danger (3)
"Would you die for me too?" Adam asked his voice a low challenge.
The laughter in the room died instantly. The mercenaries stared at him their amusement replaced by a stunned confusion. Johnny’s smile faltered. What was this kid doing? What kind of game was he playing?
But Sophia was not confused. She was not surprised. She smiled a small sad smile. "Of course," she said her voice clear and unwavering.
It was the only answer Adam needed to hear. He summoned a pistol from his inventory. It materialized in his hand its black surface gleaming in the dim light. It had a silencer attached to the barrel.
He aimed the pistol at Sophia.
He smiled at her a look of infinite sadness and unwavering resolve. "I’ll save you," he whispered a promise that only she could understand.
He squeezed the trigger.
The silenced pistol coughed once. A single bullet crossed the space between them. It struck Sophia in the head passing straight through her skull.
Sophia knew what was coming. She understood Adam’s strange words his final confession. But the men in the room were completely blindsided. Their faces shifted from amused surprise to shocked horror as Adam pulled out his pistol and fired.
They had no time to react. They could only watch as Sophia’s body crumpled to the floor lifeless.
