Chapter 81: Revenge (5)
Adam deployed the gunfire strategically. It was not for killing. It was for shock. A rapid fire of fire from a ridiculous range disoriented them and shattered their resolve. After a single rapid round, he discarded the handguns.
They vanished from his hands and returned to the system’s inventory. In their place, his battle knife appeared, its cold steel familiar and comforting.
He dropped from the ceiling, dropping silently in their midst. The armed soldiers stared at him, their eyes wide with fear. They were stunned, unable to understand the terrifying creature that had suddenly come among them.
Adam did not give them time to yell. He passed through them. His knife was a blur, a glittering streak that promised quick results. They dropped one by one, collapsing to the floor.
At the far end of the passageway, near the main hall door, a single mercenary stood amid the terrified soldiers. He noticed Adam forging a route through them. He saw incredible speed and deadly efficiency.
He was very afraid. He realized he could not stop the monster. Adam did not appear to him to be a boy. He was the deity of death himself.
The mercenary groped in his pocket and pulled out his phone. His hands were trembling so terribly that he could hardly unlock it. He stabbed at the screen, his mind screaming with a single frantic thought. Someone, please help. Someone, please help. please.
Adam was nearly upon him. He was a blur of movement, eliminating the last of the mens. He would reached the end of the corridor. Three people remained. The mercenary carrying the phone and two others. Adam did not see what the mercenary was doing with his phone. His emphasis was singular. Remove any hazards as quickly as feasible.
He did not use the knife on them. He lunged out with his feet, delivering a flurry of lightning-fast kicks. The impact of the hits drove all three of them tumbling. They collided with the back door of the main hall. Adam was on them in an instant. His knife flashed three times. Three more victims crumpled on the floor.
He had been so concentrated on the quick execution that he missed the mercenary’s final act. The man managed to transmit his message just before Adam’s boot sent him flying. The warning was issued.
