I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal

Chapter 71: jokerX

Adam watched as they all started to flee. The skilled combatants who were meant to kill him fled like terrified kids. He had no feelings. No arrogance. No respite. He just saw the next move.

He raised his pistol. He had a steady arm. He aimed it at their rear ends. He squeezed the trigger with his finger.

There was a loud crack in the club as the shot was fired. Then another. And yet another. The loud music was broken by the gun’s constant, quick burst of noise. His gun fired so quickly that the men had no time to think. They had no time to respond.

One man fell. Then the next. They dropped to the floor one after another. There were no screams just the heavy thud of bodies hitting the ground. In just a few seconds the room was littered with the men who had come to kill him.

But the one called JokerX was quick. He dove over the large DJ counter. He crashed behind it and disappeared from view.

Adam did not chase him. He moved smoothly to a large pillar that held up the ceiling. He pressed his back against the hard concrete using it for cover. He took a slow breath. The air smelled like smoke and fear.

He checked his gun. The magazine was empty. He had used all his bullets. He was not worried. He knew what to do. He reached his hand out and a new magazine appeared from his inventory. It was full of bullets. He pushed it into his gun until it clicked. He was ready to fight again.

Behind the DJ counter JokerX was breathing hard. His heart pounded in his chest. He could not believe what had just happened. He was terrified. He searched under the counter for his own weapon. His hands were shaking. He finally felt the cold metal of a submachine gun and grabbed it.

This was not right. This was not the plan. The information he got was clear. Adam was just a school kid. A normal boy who made a powerful family angry. It was supposed to be an easy job. Kill the boy get the money. His friends Eric and Joseph had brought him right to them.

But this boy was not normal. The way he moved was too perfect. The way he shot the gun was too calm. He was not a scared kid. He was a professional killer. JokerX had seen men like him before. He had hired them. This boy was one of them.
