Chapter 65: School 2
James said, "Please take your seats," in a kind and upbeat tone. "Homeroom is about to start."
Adam gave him a look. A wave of icy anger swept over him. He desired to rise. He desired to end his life there, walking to the front of the class.
He wanted to hold him accountable for his deception and the many deaths he had brought about. However, he controlled his feelings. He inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. The plan was not to kill James here now. It was too messy for the public. He must have been more intelligent than that.
Joseph went back to his desk. "I don’t know where Philips is" he said shrugging. "I haven’t seen him all morning. It’s not like him to be absent. Something must be wrong."
Adam nodded slowly. He had a feeling he knew what was wrong. Philips was scared. He was hiding.
Adam needs to speak with him in order to explain his condition, even though he is aware of the reason for his absence from school.
With a playful twinkle in his eye, Eric leaned over his desk. He whispered, "You must tell us everything about your new girlfriend at lunch." "I would really like to know what you have been doing." After giving a wink, he returned to his desk.
Adam watched him leave. He glanced at Joseph and Eric. His only link to a regular life was his friendship with them. The storm raging around him went unnoticed by them.
He had a strong desire to protect. He refused to let them be touched by his darkness. In his war, he would not allow them to be collateral damage.
James started the class. He discussed significant dates, conflicts, and long-dead monarchs. However, his gaze continued to stray to Adam. He was keeping a careful eye on him.
